Calling A New Fate

CHP 10 Safe As A Scraplet

The mech sighed and climbed up onto the bed. He sat with his back against the wall and gently repositioned Optimus to lay against him, her cheek on his chest with his arms around her middle. Her rump was in his lap, her legs hanging loosely over his left one. Starscream held the femme close, whispering soothing words constantly. He would stop and give the top of her head a light kiss every now and again, trying to lull the girl to sleep.

Eventually, she did fall into a peaceful slumber, breathing normally and only twitching slightly every now and again. Starscream wouldn't have let go of her if Primus promised him eternal bliss. At the moment, he didn't want even Ratchet to touch the young femme. He knew that it would help but Starscream felt as if even the tinest touch from anyone other than himself would cause Optimus' situation to worsen.

This, of course, was only because of his fear of Bandit. Optimus had been absolutely terrorized. Starscream had a feeling she would hold onto that scarring experience for a while.

Suddenly, Optimus stirred a little bit. She let out a deep breath and whispered softly, "Star?"

He instantly began hugging her a bit tighter, a sound like a mix between a sigh and laugh coming from him. "Yes, yes, it's me," he told her, frantically stroking her back as if something bad would happen if he didn't.

"Star, is he gone?" Optimus asked, a sob already in her tiny voice.

"Yes," Starscream whispered, holding his lips against her helm.

Optimus little voice emitted a miniature sob as she tried to bury her face in Starscream's chest. Starscream had wanted Optimus to be close like this for a long time, but he never would have thought the girl's terror would be the motivation.

"What if Airachnid hadn't stopped him?" Optimus asked, eyes huge in horror. "What if... what if he had kidnapped me and-and--"

"Shut up," Starscream snapped sharply. He squeezed her tighter against him, shaking his head, little tears in the corner of his eyes. "Don't even try to think about that. Promise me you won't, Optimus."

"I was so scared," she told Starscream. "Don't let go of me, I don't want Bandit to get me, I don't wanna get hurt..."

"I'll never let anyone hurt you ever again," Starscream promised her, lifting her up so she could set her chin on his shoulder. She shakily moved her arms up so she could hug Starscream's neck, shuddering still as if she were cold.

They sat in silence, Starscream trying not to cry and Optimus trying not to think about Bandit or what could have happened if her family hadn't saved her. It seemed ages later, but in reality it was only a few minutes after they held silence that Ratchet and Optimus' parents got there.

"Optimus, it's good old Uncle Ratchet," the medic said gently as he came to the bedside. "Want me to take a look at you? Starscream can hold your hand the entire time."

Optimus whispered something to Starscream and he nodded, kissing the side of her head. Optimus turned in Starscream's lap and slowly slid off, letting her legs hang over the bed. Starscream copied her and slid his fingers through hers.

Ratchet proceeded to scan the girl. Then he inspected the two neck wounds which were perfectly in the same position. Ratchet nodded.

"It seems our intruder knew what he was doing," the doctor commented. "Good thing we've locked him up, nice and good, though."

He leaned forward and kissed Optimus' forehead for a few moments. Then he gave her a little hug. "You're safe as a scraplet in a carcass."

"That radiates pleasant thoughts," Starscream said sarcastically.

Optimus smiled a little. She looked up at her parents. "Where's Bandit?" she asked quietly.

"Somewhere he can't get you," Dreadwing answered flatly. "Airachnid and Orion are questioning him now. Don't worry."

Arcee nodded and hugged her daughter tightly. "You're safe now. And with Starscream as your bodyguard, Bandit won't even get within two feet of you."

"We all know how insecure our dear little Seeker can be," Ratchet remarked, chuckling as Starscream hissed.

Optimus giggled and laid her head over on Starscream's shoulder. She murmured, "He's just playing with you. But we all know you can get a little crazy if you feel threatened."

Starscream leaned down and playfully nipped at the girl's cheek. "Shut up," he purred, draping his arm over her shoulder to pull her a little closer.

Optimus laughed and tried to shove him off but he held onto her, growling playfully at her. Arcee and Dreadwing exchanged some looks and then grinned. Arcee covered her eyes and shouted dramatically, "Oh, ew! Oh, Primus, ew-- no, stop, oh, get a room!"

Dreadwing gagged and made a throwing up sound. Starscream and Optimus looked at them for a minute. Then both, at the same time with uncanny precision, said sternly, "Go away."

After they did, the two turned to each other, shock. Then they laughed, unsure how they just pulled that off. Arcee elbowed Dreadwing lightly.

"Let's go," she said, loud enough for Optimus and Starscream to hear. She turned to Optimus, though, and said sternly, "Remember-- responsibility!"

Dreadwing pointed at Starscream menacingly. "Touch my daughter in any way she doesn't like and your head will be my door knocker."

Starscream nodded feverishly, crying, "Yes, sir!"

"Got it, Momma," Optimus mumbled to her mother.

The parents left and Starscream sighed. He pulled his legs up onto the bed and turned to Optimus, a rather disappointed expression on his cute little face. Optimus knew what he was gooing to try and do.

"Well... we still have to wait?" he asked, looking at Optimus with a slight beg in his red eyes.

Optimus rolled her own eyes. "Starscream... you realize I only want to wait for both of us?"

"How does that help either of us when we can't have a relationship?" Starscream demanded. "I can't even kiss you..."

"Oh, really?" Optimus asked. She got up on her knees and just barely touched her lips to Starscream's. As soon as she did, she felt that insane sensation in her chest. She knew she would let slip more than a kiss if she didn't pull back now. She did so and locked eyes with Starscream.

He looked so heartbroken. Optimus hated to see this sad little face; she really did love him but she wanted to be able to make smart choices and not act like a child in a serious relationship. She wanted him badly but she knew the wiser thing to do would be to wait.

"Listen, Star," she murmured. "The reason I don't want to get in a relationship with you yet is because I'm afraid I'll do something stupid and completely ruin it. I'm barely even two in Cybertronian years. You're an adult and possibly older."

"Hey," Starscream whined.

"Anyway," Optimus prompted. "I just... I don't wanna mess it up for us."

"But I'll understand," Starscream insisted softly, wrapping his arms around her middle, pulling her closer. He lightly touched his lips to hers, letting out a deep sigh of pleasure as their Sparks once again shot into that insane feeling.

"Starscream," Optimus murmured, wishing she had the heart to tell him to stop. Starscream had probably lived through many eons, never having the pleasure of having someone he could trust, love and hold. Optimus only wanted what was best for the two of them, but Starscream was so pitiful when he begged.

The girl's heart flipped as Starscream laid back, dragging her up to make sure he remained on top of her, her head levelled with his own. He slid his hands up her sides, a purr continuously coming from his throat. Starscream reached back down with one hand to slip his fingers into the crook of the Optimus' left leg, pulling it up a bit.

Optimus winced and lifted her lips off of Starscream's. The two locked optics, staring at each other in silence for a few moments, breathing deeply. Starscream blinked.

"Did I hurt you?" he asked.

She shook her head. "No, Starscream, I... We need to stop."

"But Optimus, Dreadwing nor your mother ever said we couldn't start our relationship," the mech cried. "We won't do anything serious, I promise. Nothing more than what we do now, you have my word. But I... Optimus, I just..."

He snifled and took a deep breath. He turned his desperate optics back to her, whispering, "Optimus, I love you with all of my Spark and it's bad enough I can't have you completely now. This, just being able to hold you and kiss you, is barely enough for me. I wa... I want you, Optimus. I do."

The girl's heart almost broke in two when she saw tears brimming just barely in Starscream's eyes. She let out a tiny, helpless cry and dropped her head in Starscream's chest. The mech reached a hand onto the back of her head, holding it there. He kissed the top of her head, whimpering.

"Optimus, I'm sorry," he whispered. "I can't help the way I feel about you but I don't want to make you think you have to be with me. I honestly love you but I could never be with you if I knew you felt forced into it."

"I love you too," Optimus told Starscream. "But... but I really want to wait, so that my immature mind won't frag up our relationship."

Starscream was still and quiet for a few minutes. Then he slowly sat up and looked at Optimus' beautiful face, shaking his head. He ran his fingers down her smooth cheek, leaning forward to kiss her softly.

"I love you," he said inbetween little kisses. He couldn't help bowing his head and lightly nipping her neck cables. Optimus tensed and shivered as a feeling of deep pleasure lit up her Spark. She closed her eyes and wondered for a moment how she would be able to manage going two whole Earth years before actually starting a relationship.

"I will support you on your decision," Starscream whispered after a while, moving back up to gaze at her again. "As much as I despise it."

Optimus nodded. "Okay, officially from here on out, no more kisses for two years. The most we can do is a kiss on the cheek."

Starscream nodded as well. He smirked and then gave her a surprise kiss. "Starting now," he chuckled slyly as he leaned away.

Optimus laughed. She rested her chin on Starscream's shoulder, hugging his neck. "I'm sorry, but it'll make things better for both of us," she told him, closing her eyes and sighing. "We can do it. After all, just because we can't kiss doesn't mean we can't play together and act like idiots."

The mech nodded, resting his own chin on the girl's shoulder. "I'll wait eagerly for that day when I can finally say, 'Optimus is my girlfriend.'"

The femme couldn't help smiling. "Silly mech."
Okay bros, this is all I have for now. I'm gonna go work on some more (even though I should try to get some more of Daughter Of Deception) while I'm off the laptop. My little sister wants to play it ^^
